July Excitement

Wow, I was shocked when I learned that Michael Jackson had passed away. It was immediate breaking news and such a sad event. There's one more amazing talent lost. =(

It's going to be Canada Day July 1st, and July 4th Independence Day for those in the USA. Anyone have holiday plans? Just remember: it's dry season, so be careful with fires.

Not Much

I have so much on my "To Do" list right now. For scanlations, though, I have only 1 update and 1 new series at the moment for this update.

MG news: A lot of tedious work...

• You may have noticed a few days ago that instead of those ugly red x's, a "Oops, no Image yet" image now shows for all of the series that do not have a picture uploaded. By the way, there are over 60 (possibly 70+ by now) series without an icon. Sigh...I was going to upload only 1 of the temporary images, and link it to all the series without a pic, but that wasn't possible. This meant a lot of clicking to upload the same pic to each series, and more loading time for you. >_<


• The Scanlators Directory has been updated after nearly a month. Sorry about that. This has been the longest delay yet. Never procrastinate; it just increases the workload.

New Series

• Heart no Kuni no Alice -- Fantasy & Adventure. For those who like classic stories and even better, twists on them, this an altered form of Alice's encounters in Alice in Wonderland. The manga is actually adapted from a game (one of those otome types).
  
    Alice falls asleep/ follows a rabbit down a hole where she discovers a new world and meets a variety of interesting characters. The people she meets sometimes are related to the people she knows in reality, and sometimes lessons are implied in their interactions. However, in this Wonderland (renamed Heartland), all of the characters so far are humanoid, and the premise of Alice's exploration is based on the premise of finishing a dangerous game. Alice has to explore and learn about Heartland and its inhabitants in order to return home. The other characters involved all have an affinity to death and mayhem, and there may be other sinister forces controlling this world. Wonderland has just become crazier and more dangerous.
  
    The summaries given in mangaupdates are more praiseful of Alice than the opinion I would give. The direction of the plot is intriguing and the art is good. If you're one who just wants to look at a lot of guys, there's that, too. Dark Tower Scans (scanlation group) has given me permission to rehost their files. I suggest that you also visit Osuwari's website to download their version of chapter 1 because they had better scans for that part. Sadly, Osuwari has dropped this series. And don't worry; both groups happened to coincidentally release this series at the same time (literally), so there's no "claiming" controversy involved. If you like this series, you should also drop by Dark Tower's website (check the Scanlators Directory). They're a small 2 person partnership and would greatly appreciate encouragement.

  I was going to make a volume file, but the thing was 135mb big, so I kept to chapter files instead.

//Edit: If you downloaded Heart no Kuni no Alice c01 before June 12th, I've replaced it with a version that has fixed page numbering (p001 instead of p1). Depending on the image reader you use, you may or may not have noticed some confusing scenes. Chapter 2 has also been modified for consistency, but it's not really necessary to redownload it. I've also added a download for Osuwari's chapter 1.
