Midsummer ugh

First off, sorry for the very late update. I am suffering (now recovering) the misery of a midsummer cold. Thank-you for the weekend when I can rest from all the little children with endless energy (I'm an assistant instructor for a summer camp).

July Excitement

Wow, I was shocked when I learned that Michael Jackson had passed away. It was immediate breaking news and such a sad event. There's one more amazing talent lost. =(

I have so much on my "To Do" list right now. For scanlations, though, I have only 1 update and 1 new series at the moment for this update.

MG news: A lot of tedious work...

• You may have noticed a few days ago that instead of those ugly red x's, a "Oops, no Image yet" image now shows for all of the series that do not have a picture uploaded. By the way, there are over 60 (possibly 70+ by now) series without an icon. Sigh...I was going to upload only 1 of the temporary images, and link it to all the series without a pic, but that wasn't possible. This meant a lot of clicking to upload the same pic to each series, and more loading time for you. >_<


• The Scanlators Directory has been updated after nearly a month. Sorry about that. This has been the longest delay yet. Never procrastinate; it just increases the workload.

New Series

• Heart no Kuni no Alice -- Fantasy & Adventure. For those who like classic stories and even better, twists on them, this an altered form of Alice's encounters in Alice in Wonderland. The manga is actually adapted from a game (one of those otome types).
  
    Alice falls asleep/ follows a rabbit down a hole where she discovers a new world and meets a variety of interesting characters. The people she meets sometimes are related to the people she knows in reality, and sometimes lessons are implied in their interactions. However, in this Wonderland (renamed Heartland), all of the characters so far are humanoid, and the premise of Alice's exploration is based on the premise of finishing a dangerous game. Alice has to explore and learn about Heartland and its inhabitants in order to return home. The other characters involved all have an affinity to death and mayhem, and there may be other sinister forces controlling this world. Wonderland has just become crazier and more dangerous.
  
    The summaries given in mangaupdates are more praiseful of Alice than the opinion I would give. The direction of the plot is intriguing and the art is good. If you're one who just wants to look at a lot of guys, there's that, too. Dark Tower Scans (scanlation group) has given me permission to rehost their files. I suggest that you also visit Osuwari's website to download their version of chapter 1 because they had better scans for that part. Sadly, Osuwari has dropped this series. And don't worry; both groups happened to coincidentally release this series at the same time (literally), so there's no "claiming" controversy involved. If you like this series, you should also drop by Dark Tower's website (check the Scanlators Directory). They're a small 2 person partnership and would greatly appreciate encouragement.

Hi people!!

Finally I'm 15 yrs old (YUSHHH may get wrinkles all ready lol) I'm so happy!! and right now I'm learning how to drive which so so cool and I love it! GO MANUAL CARS!! Okay, the whole H1N1 (not to be confused with H5N1) uproar has pretty much died down, but I wanted to use that headline for my update. So what that I've been relegated to filling in several weeks later? Not to worry, I've still been around even though I haven't been front page news.

My theory is that the higher quality scanlators tend to avoid picking up popular series because experience shows that a lot of other scanlators want to pounce on the project (and so then I'm stuck reading "English" that wouldn't pass elementary level). FYI, vol 5 is the latest volume published, i.e. vol 6 does not exist yet.

• New Series - under Active Projects:

Shinrei Tantei Yakumo -- a paranormal and mystery series! Oh, and toss in a little bit of horror and blood. Join Saitou Yankumo as he investigates supernatural mysteries that Ozawa Haruka stumbles upon. Saitou Yankumo was born with a red left eye that gives him the ability to see ghosts. These spirits are unable to move on because they have unsettled personal reasons. Yakumo can see and hear them, and offers to investigate cases so their troubles can laid to rest. Sometimes the cause of their grief can be dangerous - like murder...
- I recommend that you try this one out if you haven't yet (obviously, I am rehosting it because I like it). It's a completed 2 volume series. HoF has almost finished with volume 1, but last I heard, they're still looking for volume 2.

New File Hoster
I have an account with a new file hoster, so I'd like to hear any comments on what the downloads are like. If no one says anything, I'll continue using the hoster. The downloads should be okay since I "research" and test things out before I sign up, upload, and re-distribute

Sorry about the absence and the problem with the Active Manga page. Until I can find a better solution, the link will lead to a page that lists all the manga along with their respective pictures. It is going to be a pretty long wait for those with slower connections so I apologize about that.

Almost Doesn't Count...

Well, I'm almost finished all of my midterms, but there's still one more nerve-wracking, sleepless week to go. And there won't be relief until it's all over.

MG stuff

• Recent commenters: Lingg, Katherine,Riri. We're always happy to have input - even if it's just rating the series (you see those stars on each project page?).
  On the topic of comments, I just manually deleted 34 Spam comments (1 yesterday and the rest today). I've taken down Loving_Day's Jan 17 update post. The bot was targetting that post and now it has stopped.

Scanlation News

• VK (Vampire Knights) the scanlation group decided to change their name to X-VK because "Vampire Knight" the series is no longer their main project. (Jan 16) I forgot this last time around.
   


• So you may wonder: What's been happening with Shoujo Crusade? They've now bought another domain. If you're looking for releases, their new temporary website is at wordpress. If you're looking for a forum to register in, they also have a new forum. This is a different forum from Loving_Day's link in the previous post. The new address has changed to ".net". Check the Scanlators Directory for the links (see: "Website" and "Main Forum").
   


• This isn't one of the series on our website at the moment, but "Megane Ouji" scanlated by Nagareboshi has been licensed. Check out their website to read its fate. (Feb 8 )
   


• The Little Corner has released v2 ch6 of "Half Prince". If you follow this series, it's got to be one of your favourites. Go check it out and say thank-you for all the $$ they dished out to buy the volumes. Heh heh, I already checked out the raws, so I'm a bit spoiled of what will happen for the next little while (I don't know word of Chinese, but I did get some ideas).
   


• And just in case anyone gets a little anxious about releases of "Hotaru no HIkari", from now on J-Sis plans to do volume releases of the series from now on, so it'll take about a 1 to 2 months or more. (Feb 11).  I read this series, too, so I just hope it won't end up dropped (there are a lot of volumes).
