Not Much

I have so much on my "To Do" list right now. For scanlations, though, I have only 1 update and 1 new series at the moment for this update.

MG news: A lot of tedious work...

• You may have noticed a few days ago that instead of those ugly red x's, a "Oops, no Image yet" image now shows for all of the series that do not have a picture uploaded. By the way, there are over 60 (possibly 70+ by now) series without an icon. Sigh...I was going to upload only 1 of the temporary images, and link it to all the series without a pic, but that wasn't possible. This meant a lot of clicking to upload the same pic to each series, and more loading time for you. >_<

• The Scanlators Directory has been updated after nearly a month. Sorry about that. This has been the longest delay yet. Never procrastinate; it just increases the workload.

• Thank-you to Robin, andrea, and fan for leaving a comment. :)

Manga

New Series

• Heart no Kuni no Alice -- Fantasy & Adventure. For those who like classic stories and even better, twists on them, this an altered form of Alice's encounters in Alice in Wonderland. The manga is actually adapted from a game (one of those otome types).

Alice falls asleep/ follows a rabbit down a hole where she discovers a new world and meets a variety of interesting characters. The people she meets sometimes are related to the people she knows in reality, and sometimes lessons are implied in their interactions. However, in this Wonderland (renamed Heartland), all of the characters so far are humanoid, and the premise of Alice's exploration is based on the premise of finishing a dangerous game. Alice has to explore and learn about Heartland and its inhabitants in order to return home. The other characters involved all have an affinity to death and mayhem, and there may be other sinister forces controlling this world. Wonderland has just become crazier and more dangerous.

The summaries given in mangaupdates are more praiseful of Alice than the opinion I would give. The direction of the plot is intriguing and the art is good. If you're one who just wants to look at a lot of guys, there's that, too. Dark Tower Scans (scanlation group) has given me permission to rehost their files. I suggest that you also visit Osuwari's website to download their version of chapter 1 because they had better scans for that part. Sadly, Osuwari has dropped this series. And don't worry; both groups happened to coincidentally release this series at the same time (literally), so there's no "claiming" controversy involved. If you like this series, you should also drop by Dark Tower's website (check the Scanlators Directory). They're a small 2 person partnership and would greatly appreciate encouragement.
  Volume 01: c01, c02, c03, c04, c05  (c01 [Osuwari])
I was going to make a volume file, but the thing was 135mb big, so I kept to chapter files instead.

Series Updates If I think of any more, I'll add them on

• Dengeki Daisy  v2c8 [ochibichan] -- ch9 has been released, but a week hasn't passed yet

• //Boku wa Kisu...  v02: c05-c07 [Nagareboshi] -- now Completed.

//Edit: If you downloaded Heart no Kuni no Alice c01 before June 12th, I've replaced it with a version that has fixed page numbering (p001 instead of p1). Depending on the image reader you use, you may or may not have noticed some confusing scenes. Chapter 2 has also been modified for consistency, but it's not really necessary to redownload it. I've also added a download for Osuwari's chapter 1.

//Edit2:Usagi Drop  v3ch15 [J-Sis] added
//Edit3:Dengeki Daisy  v2c9 [ochibichan] - I think it's been 1 week

Don't cough on me

Okay, the whole H1N1 (not to be confused with H5N1) uproar has pretty much died down, but I wanted to use that headline for my update. So what that I've been relegated to filling in several weeks later? Not to worry, I've still been around even though I haven't been front page news.

MG News

• First off, the reason why you see me today is not just because I'm overdue for an appearance. Today is Loving_Day's birthday (perhaps belated due to time zones). So happy birthday to our craziest uploader who was on such a roll that I couldn't butt in. May your birthday celebration be lots of fun.

• Recent commenters: jOdz17, Robin - pretty much a guest of honour now ;) , and Jace Thanks for stopping by to say something!

Scanlation News -- I don't have anything about our scanlators this time.

What? Where are the updates, you ask? Sorry, I have to do some organization since I've misplaced the files everywhere (hey, it's been a few weeks and I have a lot of computer files). See you later (as in soon - not another week).

//Edit: These aren't new releases, so most of you will likely have downloaded directly from the scanlator or another secondary source.
*Some* of the links are only on the upates page for this week. ;) They will be copied to their respective project pages after the week passes.

Manga Updates - all under Active

• Crimson Hero  v11c45 [eternal enchantment]
• Dengeki Daisy  v2c7 [ochibichan] -- c6 has also been added to the series' page.

• Half Prince - [The Little Corner & Is-Wak]
- Sadly, TheLittleCorner has announced that they are dropping this manhua at volume 5. I rather doubt that there will be high or high-medium quality scanlations of the remaining volumes, but I guess we'll just have to wait and see. My theory is that the higher quality scanlators tend to avoid picking up popular series because experience shows that a lot of other scanlators want to pounce on the project (and so then I'm stuck reading "English" that wouldn't pass elementary level). FYI, vol 5 is the latest volume published, i.e. vol 6 does not exist yet.
v03: c12, c13, c14, c15, c16, c17
volume 03, volume 4: c18-c22+extra1-2, volume 5: c23-c28

• Handsome Girlfriend v5c19 [Fateful Encounters] -- labelling correction: vol 5 starts at c17
• Hotaru no Hikaru v03: c13-c18 [J-Sis]
• Kiss  v7c33 [ochibichan]
• Oresama Teacher  v1c5 [SD & Intercross]
• Penguin Kakumei c27, c28, c29 [FH & AD] -- because I promised jOdz17
• Sensei!  v7c32 [n-c-i-s & Fairfly]

• Usagi Drop v3c14 [J-Sis] -- I haven't been on J-SiS' website for a while, so I thought I had the wrong website address when I saw their new theme layout.

• Venus Capriccio [Midnight] - ah, I forgot to add the v3 chapter links to the series' page after that update last month. And the remaining volumes: v04: c18-23, v05: c24-29

lol, There is probably going to be a Part Two to this update, so check back some other day.

Things Just Aren't Going My Way

I'll spare you the details of the antagonism that I feel. The diluted version is that I'm in the middle of my exams at the moment. It's week #4 of exams, I'm recovering from the cold, and I can't get into a class I need next year because it's full.

Website News

• Several pages on this website are not working. It may be due to some bug or an internal change that messed up the coding. This might not be fixed for a while. The affected Pages: About Us, Browse by Keywords, Top15, Active manga without images (this was noted in an update a while back).
Tags still work, but there's no list of all the tags on the website - not that it worked properly before (it didn't list all of our tags).

• Questions about Broken Links: Please mention them here in the updates comments or in the chatbox instead of on the page for that series.

• Thank-you to jOdz17 for commenting this week. If you'd like to contact us, leave a comment anywhere or use the Chatbox. If you want to keep it private, leave a comment and mention that. We check those before letting them show on the website. We'll then e-mail you if needed. You can also pm Loving_Day or Fuzz in the forum.

Scanlation News

• Ochibichan has fixed their domain address problem since my last update, so use their main address.

Manga
- stuff from a few weeks ago that I never put up because I then became occupied with my own work. I'm butting into Loving_Day's great work because I'll forget these links if I don't put them down soon. Most of them have had further releases since then, so I've added the newer ones, too.

• New Series Added - under Completed:
Undercurrent [n-c-i-s]-- I had this one from 3 weeks ago. It's a short 1 volume, slice-of-life title. A woman struggles with her bath house after her husband disappears. She contemplates the changes in life and refaces two major turning points in her life.
  volume 1 (c1-11) or: c01, c02, c03, c04, c05, c06, c07(v.2), c08, c09, c10, c11

• Active Manga Updates
  Crimson Hero [enchantment] v11c43-c44
Dengeki Daisy  [ochibichan] v2c6 - You can find ch7 just released on irc.
Half Prince  [tLC] v2: c10, c11; v3c12 - funny, I liked the translations of the fast releases on mangafox. The English flowed better and sounded more lively. The Little Corner has just released c13-c14 on their website.
Sensei! [FatefulEncounters] v6c30-31 - (most recent release: c32)

//Edit: Active Manga Updates April 20, 2009
Some sneaky people have already found these files before I posted the links, but here are
Venus Capriccio [MidnightScans] v3: c15/mirror, c16/mirror, c17/mirror
By the way, I uploaded c12-14 about 2 or 3 months after Camui reminded us in the chatbox. Yet, there have been over 100 downloads of those 3 chapters...and absolutely no comments at all - no thank-you, no "I like this manga. " That's rather depressing since this is a licensed series anyway and I don't even read it. I'm just uploading to fill in for Kawaiisue. I'm uploading the recent releases v3c15-v5 as a request from some other people.

//Edit2: April 22, 2009 Earth Day - What do you do to reduce waste?

Earth Hour 2009
8:30PM Saturday 28 March 2009

Happy St. Patrick's Day

There have been some recent releases of series hosted on this website, but you won't see them until the waiting periods pass and some staff member decides to re-upload them.

News:

• If you've been unable to get onto Ochibichan's website. Try their unmasked address instead (see entrance 2 in scanlators directory). Their ".net" domain is down.

Updates

• New Releases under Active Projects
  Half Prince [tLC] - v02 cont...:  c07 (ver.2),  c08,  c09
  Handsome Girlfriend  v5c18
  Ani-Com - alternate version: Hanashi's scanlations   v1c01-v2c06 (c7 already up)

• New Series under Active Projects

Chii's Sweet Home [dokidoki]-- an ongoing "Slice of Life"-type series about a cute little kitten as she ges along with her new adopted family and explores all the strange new things in her world.
   [DokiDoki] volume 1, volume 2
- This is the first volume file I've uploaded to last week's new file hoster. Try downloading it and comment about its activity. Does it take too long to download? If it's too slow, I'll upload the other volumes somewhere else.

See the previous update for more about the new file hoster testing. If I don't get any comments, I'll continue using the account, so tell me if you can't download it or find it too slow.

As a gift to those who read through my rambling updates, these download links will only be here in the Updates until I repost them to their respective pages sometime later.

//Edit: I forgot to mention the latest commenter: Rhapsody. Thank-you for your comment on "Sensei!" and I greatly appreciate you pointing out those broken links.

There's been no outcry in the comments or Chatbox, so I assume that the file hoster is okay for single chapters and volume downloads. This applies to "Chii's Sweet Home", "Half Prince c6+", and "Shinrei Tantei Yankumo".

Volume 2 of Chii's Sweet Home has been added (see above). Its series information is also up under Active Manga.
And... here is Dengeki Daisy   v2c05

//Edit2:

• Complete Project:  Aoi Kiseki [nbm] -waiting period is over. This seems to be a fairly popular series; if you liked it, please head over to Nagareboshi and thank them for the scanlations.
    v1: c04, c05[end]

• Active Project: Links are also up in project page.
  Handsome Girlfriend  [FatefulEncounters]v5c18
  Ani-Com - alternate version: Hanashi's scanlations
     v01: c01(ver.2), c02, c03, c04, c05;  v02: c06, c07 already uploaded

Another Week Weekend Update

Once again, I don't have any interesting news and there were only a few series for me to update (new releases!). Instead, I'm bringing one new series and also a new file hoster I'd like to try out (continue reading for more information).

• Manga Updates - Active Projects: - only 3 chapters!
Faster than a Kiss  v2c5 -For all those who didn't get it off of the scanlators' mediafire link or some other 3rd party.
Half Prince  v2c6 -I'm uploading this for MG now if you haven't checked it out from The Little Corner.
  Sensei!  v6c29

• New Series - under Active Projects:

Shinrei Tantei Yakumo -- a paranormal and mystery series! Oh, and toss in a little bit of horror and blood. Join Saitou Yankumo as he investigates supernatural mysteries that Ozawa Haruka stumbles upon. Saitou Yankumo was born with a red left eye that gives him the ability to see ghosts. These spirits are unable to move on because they have unsettled personal reasons. Yakumo can see and hear them, and offers to investigate cases so their troubles can laid to rest. Sometimes the cause of their grief can be dangerous - like murder...
- I recommend that you try this one out if you haven't yet (obviously, I am rehosting it because I like it). It's a completed 2 volume series. HoF has almost finished with volume 1, but last I heard, they're still looking for volume 2.

New File Hoster
I have an account with a new file hoster, so I'd like to hear any comments on what the downloads are like. If no one says anything, I'll continue using the hoster. The downloads should be okay since I "research" and test things out before I sign up, upload, and re-distribute
You can comment here in the Updates (click on "comments" or "no comments" at the bottom of this post) or in the Chatbox. If you don't want to fill in your email, just use a fake one (eg. anonymous@email.com).

These are the files I just uploaded using the new hoster:
Half Prince  v02c06
Shinrei Tantei Yankumo  v01: (case file 1) - c01, c02, c03, (case file 2) - c04

more updates later? We'll have to see... :)

Manga Updates

Nothing creative this time. I'm all burned out.

• under Active Manga:
  Kiss  v6c32, v6 Sidestory, v6 omake
  Men's School  v2c6
  Superior  v08c1 ver.2 - re-edited and all parts consolidated (it's the entire ch1)
  Usagi Drop  v3c13
Venus Capriccio  v2c12-v2c14 -Camui reminded us over a month ago, so I'm sorry that it's only up now. =_=
Yokohama Monogatari  v1c10 - Just how many chs does this volume have?

Oh, and latest commenter: ploy. Thanks for dropping by and interacting!

Arrgh, am I the only one who has frequent problems with the server? I can't get to the Active Manga by the link. Sigh, if you are, I can post the links here too.

And, Happy (belated) 3rd Anniversary to Esthetique.

//Munky's edit:
Sorry about the absence and the problem with the Active Manga page. Until I can find a better solution, the link will lead to a page that lists all the manga along with their respective pictures. It is going to be a pretty long wait for those with slower connections so I apologize about that.

Almost Doesn't Count...

Well, I'm almost finished all of my midterms, but there's still one more nerve-wracking, sleepless week to go. And there won't be relief until it's all over.

MG stuff

• Recent commenters: Lingg, Katherine,Riri. We're always happy to have input - even if it's just rating the series (you see those stars on each project page?).
On the topic of comments, I just manually deleted 34 Spam comments (1 yesterday and the rest today). I've taken down Loving_Day's Jan 17 update post. The bot was targetting that post and now it has stopped.

Scanlation News

• VK (Vampire Knights) the scanlation group decided to change their name to X-VK because "Vampire Knight" the series is no longer their main project. (Jan 16) I forgot this last time around.

• So you may wonder: What's been happening with Shoujo Crusade? They've now bought another domain. If you're looking for releases, their new temporary website is at wordpress. If you're looking for a forum to register in, they also have a new forum. This is a different forum from Loving_Day's link in the previous post. The new address has changed to ".net". Check the Scanlators Directory for the links (see: "Website" and "Main Forum").

• This isn't one of the series on our website at the moment, but "Megane Ouji" scanlated by Nagareboshi has been licensed. Check out their website to read its fate. (Feb 8 )

• The Little Corner has released v2 ch6 of "Half Prince". If you follow this series, it's got to be one of your favourites. Go check it out and say thank-you for all the $$ they dished out to buy the volumes. Heh heh, I already checked out the raws, so I'm a bit spoiled of what will happen for the next little while (I don't know word of Chinese, but I did get some ideas).

• And just in case anyone gets a little anxious about releases of "Hotaru no HIkari", from now on J-Sis plans to do volume releases of the series from now on, so it'll take about a 1 to 2 months or more. (Feb 11).  I read this series, too, so I just hope it won't end up dropped (there are a lot of volumes).

Okay, on with the Manga Updates. They're all stuff we've been lazy to upload.

• All under Active Projects:
Boku wa Kisu o Uso de Tsuku v1c4
Chu Chu Chu v1c4 (not a new release)
  Oresama Teacher v1c4
Akuma de Koibito story 2  -a cute one
  Handsome Girlfriend v4c17
Meru Meru Mail v1c1-3 -Re-uploaded. And that wraps up the series that had to be re-upped.

• Oneshot:
Puberty Baby - that first oneshot from "7th Period is a Secret". Finally, we can say that the entire project is fully uploaded.

• Complete Projects:
  Shinshi Doumei Cross Epilogue

A lot of the series hosted here are also available for download on the respective scanlator's website (and I mean open access http links), so if we're too slow, just go visit them.
I'm driving traffic away...=P

Variety Pack

We've had a lot of updates and a bunch of new series every week, so check out the older updates if you haven't been here in a while.

MG Stuff

• It's great to see many people responding to many areas of the website in the past two weeks. We were happy to hear from: tero, ayame harushino, clamp, Robin (glad to hear from you again), Camui, and Dinah. Too bad there weren't more for the winter holiday treat.
  ;)

• we edit recent updates often, so read all of the post! To RSS readers: you'll have to refresh your MG feed and personally check posts for edits. I know mine only alerts if there's a new post - not if edits have been made.

• I added information to oneshots about the series or anthology that they came from. This is for those who want to check out more or are curious. There were a lot =_=.
Note: My information is only as accurate as what's given by the scanlators and MU.

Scanlation

• For those who don't know yet, World of Creation or (WoC)scanlation group closed on Jan 9, 2009. Yes, yes, I know, it's now the end of January that I'm relaying this.

• Shoujo Crusade's website is down, so go to their Lj backup for their news. See Scanlators Directory for address.

• Superior - was picked up by a devoted fan a while ago. There has been a release, so the series is back under Active. I know for sure that ayame harushino noticed it had been moved to Dropped.

• Hadaka no Oujisama - Love kingdom ch5 has been released to those who've been waiting. There is a 2 day waiting period, so we might have the chapter up on Monday.
@Dinah: Lol, and this is the day after you asked about the series, too! I'm only posting this in case you happen to check the updates.

• Those who liked the Oneshot Heaven's Door will be interested to know that there's a sequel story. See Nagareboshi's site for complete details.

//edit: Major housekeeping finished. x_x. I'll be taking down some series that will be updated, so I'll remember tomorrow. They'll be up again after updating. Done.

//Edit2: Feb 2, 2009

End of Winter Holiday 2

Check the previous post for more Series Updates, Re-uploads & Broken Links -in 2 parts
Before I  withdraw into hibernation, I have 2 New Series for everyone. Yay - the first time I've posted something new! I've been planning this for a while, but I kept having to fix things on the website.

• New Series (under Active Manga):

Hakushaku to Yousei - also commonly known as My Fairy or Earl and Fairy.  Lydia, a fairy doctor, is hired by a man named Edgar to find a sword that will allow him to claim the title of Blue Knight. The original Blue Knight was an earl who supposedly held land in both the human world and fairy world.

The art is good. I first ran into the anime and I checked it out because the premise seemed interesting. After a while, I thought that the plot lacked detail. It had some interesting ideas for the story, but they weren't built upon well enough. I wouldn't say that it was badly done, but it wasn't enthralling either (maybe a 3/5). When I found the manga being scanlated, I checked it out to see if it was different. So far, the manga seems to follow the anime. In fact, I liked the anime better for the first few episodes - you miss out on the action when it's in pictures. I did like the anime until they searched for the sword.
I think the scanlator has quit or is quitting work on this series soon and another plans to pick it up. For now, you can find chapter 1 (in 4 parts) for download.

Half Prince (1/2 Ouji) - Fang len's brother brings home a new multi-player virtual reality game called "Second Life." Because she calls it lame-o, her brother taunts her by saying it's because she's a girl. Girls are scared of pain, and when they're in trouble, they just stay in the back and get the guys to protect them. Insulted, Fang len raises to the challenge and says that she could beat her brother in the game, fair and square. She starts the game and, inspired, asks to become a male character. Her adventures begin and new players join her as it progresses - the odd squad grows!

This series has a great mix of generes. Yeah, so it's a gender-bender because the girl becomes a boy; the 1st main character is a girl out to prove a point; it's kind of science-fiction because it takes place in the future in a virtual reality game; it's kind of fantasy because of the game's setting. You may think that it all sounds familiar, that you've all heard one of these points before. However, I like this manga so far. It's not some stereotypical fantasy adventure. The story tries to sell mostly on the comedy point. So try out this series and check out the wacky characters and their interactions. Then, if you like it, go visit the scanlators and say thank-you. The project is temporarily stalled at the moment. The Little Corner is an affiliate, too (a wonderful little group).
